Movies On the Plaza: Movie One - Barbie

Wednesday, June 17th‍ ‍Movie Trivia & Prizes: 7:30 p.m. Movie: 8:30 p.m.

Hi Barbie! Consider this your official main character moment because we’re kicking off the 16th Annual Movies on the Plaza season at Maryland Plaza with the ultimate cultural reset: Barbie. Follow Margot Robbie’s perfectly polished Barbie as her flawless world starts glitching (yes, existential dread, but make it chic), sending her and Ryan Gosling’s Ken on a very unfiltered journey into the real world. It’s funny, self-aware, a little chaotic, and somehow still deeply heartfelt (aka the perfect kickoff vibe). Grab your crew, wear something pink (obviously), and pull up to Maryland Plaza for a night that’s equal parts nostalgia, satire, and summer energy.

Movies On the Plaza: Movie Two - Back to the Future

Wednesday, July 15th‍ ‍Movie Trivia & Prizes: 7:30 p.m. Movie: 8:30 p.m.

Roads? Where we’re going… we don’t need them. Movie 2 of the 16th Annual Movies on the Plaza at Maryland Plaza is the ultimate throwback flex: Back to the Future. When teen Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) accidentally time-travels back to 1955 in a DeLorean built by eccentric genius Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd), he disrupts his parents’ first meeting (aka risks erasing himself from existence). Now it’s a race against time (literally) to fix the timeline, spark a little romance, and harness a bolt of lightning to get back home. Equal parts adventure, comedy, and sci-fi classic, it’s giving iconic, it’s giving chaotic good, and it’s the perfect sequel energy for a summer night under the stars.

Movies On the Plaza: Movie Three - Beetlejuice

Wednesday, August 19th ‍Movie Trivia & Prizes: 7 p.m. Movie: 8 p.m.

Say it once… say it twice… Movie 3 (and the grand finale) of the 16th Annual Movies on the Plaza at Maryland Plaza is the perfectly unhinged cult classic: Beetlejuice. When a recently deceased couple finds their home taken over by the living, they recruit a chaotic “bio-exorcist” (Michael Keaton in peak menace mode) to scare them out, only for things to spiral in the weirdest, most iconic ways possible. With Winona Ryder as the effortlessly goth Lydia, it’s spooky, campy, and dripping in offbeat humor. Translation: the ultimate “strange and unusual” sendoff to close out the season. Just don’t say his name three times…
