Our Story

Maryland Plaza is located in the heart of the Central West End, one of St. Louis’ most acclaimed neighborhoods (recognized by the American Planning Association as a top neighborhood in the nation). The distinctive character of Maryland Plaza is steeped in history. The area, bounded on 4 sides by Euclid, Kingshighway, Maryland and Lindell, is as beautiful today as it was when it was originally developed nearly a century ago.

Building the future.

In 2004, the Koplar Company led the effort to reinvest in Maryland Plaza, bringing a diverse collection of premier retail and dining establishments to the area, including bringing new life to the former Saks Fifth Avenue and Montaldo’s buildings.

The Koplar Company reimagined the Maryland Plaza streetscape, anchored by a state-of-the-art fountain by WET Design, the famed designers of Las Vegas’ Bellagio fountain. Featuring iconic retailers such as lululemon, Bonobos & Suitsupply, and Edera Italian Eatery, today Maryland Plaza remains a vibrant shopping destination, attracting both locals as well as visitors from the St. Louis region, nationally and even internationally.
